Skill assessment

Omg, i can't believe I'm reverting to blogger. Too much pent up frustration.

Anyway, after more than half a month of material exchange, the agent finally gets all documents for skill assessment submission.

Tolonglah cepat sikit! It'll take a couple of moths to be completed! The quota is running out really fast. Barely have 300spots out of 1500 offered.

I'm just afraid if I run out this year there won't be a refresh next year. Then, where am I supposed to go? What am I supposed to work as?

Anyway, pray hard I'll get the invite by this year.

Review: Derma Master, Sungai Petani

Location: Sungai Petani Branch
Tming: Early June 2015

As usual, bought voucher from groupon; It was RM18/pax. Went with Lini again.

As expected, the outlet was a bit run-down from the outside. But I'd say it's fairly big, considering they rented two whole lots. While we were waiting a not-so-young aunty came in and bought some mask; she was so pretty! Flat tummy, fair and youthful skin. Gee, sure hope I could become just as pretty, and gee should I trust this place to transform me?

Offline customer service is quite good. They call you if there's an opening on earlier dates, a day before appointment and exact five minutes before appointment. Downside? On site customer service was not as good. We went in, but no one entertained us. No, it was not lack of (wo)manpower. There were three ladies standing behind the counter, chatting among themselves. Someone took the voucher from us, and we were let to wait in the waiting area for quite sometimes.

It surprised me that Lini and I went together, but they separated us for treatment. I mean, there's a reason we came together. Shouldn't you let us do analysis and treatment together? Then we could ask for each other's opinion and gossip while doing treatment. In a way, I think it's their attack strategy, to isolate a person with just their consultant. So the person will eat on their words with no second opinion.

They started attacking with typical second method; insecurities. The consultant asked me what's my biggest concern, then kept picking on the flaw continuously. I told her my biggest concern was signs of aging, and she kept harping on how my skin is sick and needs immediate treatment. I wonder if I told her my biggest concern is acne scarring, would she harp on oily skin instead?

To be fair, what she said was true too. sunscreen is important, yet I still haven't worn until today. Drink 2l water minimum daily, which I'm trying. The facial cleanser is too expensive, and I'm no longer using Senka. I'm now switching to Aqualabel. I'm breaking out but not so seriously, and I'm starting seeing (minor) differences in my skin. Well, not that much better, but yeah, less oily.

Treatment itself was good. The product was good. The extraction was painful, but most whitehead/blackhead was gone from my face. But in a way, I felt like they were not sincere in doing it. Maybe because I was on voucher? Because I was a 'construction worker' and probably had no money to extort?

The scan after treatment showed betterment of skin condition. But the one in NYSS also showed improvement, yet here I am; not yet on Kpop level. They somewhat offered the 2nd stage at RM38 during treatment, but one way or another was not 'well-promoted' in after consultation. Because I have no money? Same with the samples they promoted. Because they were sample sheets (approx 1ml each), I thought they'd be free. Each was RM10.60 omgwtfbbq! (4 sachets x RM10.60 = RM42.40.) But maybe because 'a construction worker' cannot afford it, no sales pushing. In a way, tried to get rid of me asap without asking 'are you sure'?

What disgusts me was the end, before I left. I didn't buy their sunscreen, so I said I'd just look around at home if I have one lying around. The person just scoffed and made fun of me, as if it was impossible I'd have one.

Well to be truthful, I was quite interested in their 2nd stage and was about to buy it. But I wanted to ask Lini if she'd want it too, because I'd get Lini to drive me lol. But by the time I went out of the loo, Lini already escaped to her car. Lini said she didn't like the treatment here but bought the 4x samples. omg bye bye rm42.40!

All in all, I probably visit again if I get other consultants and at cheap price (<RM30/session). But as it is, I probably won't visit for a long time.

On other note, I'm running out of spa to try on groupon. I probably already bought all. Help!

Review: New York Skin Solution, AEON Bukit Mertajam

Location: AEON Bukit Mertajam
Timing: March 2015

I went because my previous housemate said that the first treatment was free. She even took RM5k + RM4k packages with New York Skin Solution. Until today, I still think she's stupid. She signed up for a credit card, and maxed it up with an RM5k package RIGHT AFTER HER VERY FIRST SALARY. (Her salary was RM3k fresh grad not inclusive OT or shift allowance.)

I think she's stupid because she was paying so much money, yet she didn't end up like a Kpop star. If anything, her skin condition worsened considerably. Well, I attribute that to her own stupidity of not using make up remover. She piled up foundation on her face every single morning religiously, and reapplied another layer in the evening when she went out for dinner, yet didn't bother to take it off before bed.

You'd be surprised how many people on earth didn't even own make up remover (despite having truckloads of make up). Other housemates (from another housing era) even piled on foundation called bedak jepun (ironically made in philippines) TO bed.

Anyway, like I said, despite seeing bad progress of my ex-housemate, I went because IT'S FREE. And wow I was amazed. Okay not really. I only like it because the machine was showing that my hand is still having full squarish collagen. (Collagen in my face all kaput though.)

The facial I did included collagen ampoule. I have to say I'm impressed. It really lightened my acne scar, and the effect lasts until today.

After treatment was another story. It was hardselling hell. they quoted me RM3.2k for 10session of collagen treatment + 10 session of oxygen treatment (I think). They were not letting me go. Even when I said I had no money, the company I worked at was not doing well, had to ask my mom (omg lame as fuck), they were not letting me go. Their final offer was RM680 of 10 oxygen treatment. So to get out of there, I had to put down an RM100 of initial payment.

I didn't go back again. Ever. I probably will go back to spend the money I already put in earlier.
But thinking back, I probably should've taken up the package, since the effect was visible. Probably just the collagen treatment sessions. Oxygen facial should be fairly standard even outside. I mean, RM1.6k (10 collagen treatments, I think) was not too bad if I can become kpop afterwards.

That being said, turned out quite a number of people signed up for NYSS packages. Well, none of them turned into kpop. So it's really a mixed review whether NYSS is a good spa or not.

Review: La Venus, Seberang Jaya

Location: Seberang Jaya
Timing: May 2015

Bought voucher from groupon. I bought for 2pax, and there was a 15% discount for purchase via apps. I think I paid about RM22/pax.

It's alright. Quite a typical small scale spa.
Fairly hygienic, couldn't complain much.

Went with Lini. The service was so-so. Nothing outstanding, but I would say fairly good. Blackhead extraction was gentle but ended too soon. I can't decide whether they we doing it half-assed-ly or my blackhead has reduced tremendously. Lini's beautician was the tauke herself, so she was absolutely taken. I got the spa helper. she's okay, but again, nothing special.

The treatment itself was pretty standard. The massage also standard massage.

Lini went as far as signing up for RM100 for 2sessions.
I still think it doesn't worth it.

Hardselling was not too hardcore, but maybe that was attributed by Lini telling the girls that I 'kerja kilang'.

Re-visit? Yes, if the price drops to below RM30/session.

Review: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

I'll be reviewing skincare products I've been doing repeat purchases.
We'll I'll probably do the ones I hate too, but let's focus on the ones I love.

Unpaid review, but if Estee Lauder wants to sponsor me I'll be more than happy lol.

I had been on a journey for good skin condition since I was young. I used to have excessively bad skin with constant acne and breakouts on daily basis. Think of a volcanic land. My face was worse.

I started using Estee Lauder back in 2012. I went to KL on a seminar and stayed in Traders near KLCC. So naturally, I went to KLCC before I went back home. I took train from KLCC, to KL Sentral to KLIA anyway. So Estee Lauder was having booth promotions at the concourse area. One of the promoter tested the ANR on the back of my hand and sprayed water on it afterwards. The way my skin absorbed the water amazed me. But I didn't buy the bottle right there and then.

I was a cheapskate. Plus I was only aiming for sample sheets. While I was amazed by the product, I wasn't amazed by the salesgirl. She's not exactly pushy, but why the angry face when I didn't buy the product. Sure, I wasted her time but wasn't it my rights to decide what I want? I don't like people telling what I need to do with my money.

I waited. I waited for sales and only bought the 50ml bottle about a month later in Penang. Thinking back, I didn't actually use any of the samples, so it was quite a waste. But satisfaction of getting my money's worth was hard to deny.

I use it after washing my face and toner. basically just half a pump and spread thinly all over the face. But I think it's fairly useless on its own. It opens up skin ability to absorb water, but if there's nothing moisturizing piled on top, there's no point.

My face feels sticky/hungry for water after application, so I mosturized afterwards. Nowadays I use Sana Hadanomy cream, but that product alone is for another entry. I typically only use this product at night, mix together with Lancome Genifique serum. I use only Lancome Genifique for day serum. My face is always supple and well moisturized the next day.

In short, great product. I use very little every time because I believe in consistent use instead of slathering an inch of product once a month. So a 50ml bottle actually last me almost a year. Fairly expensive at RM350/50ml, but don't forget to buy during sales. Price typically stays constant, but you'll get miniature size of other products. If you're shameless, don't forget to ask for free samples from the salesgirls.

If you're buying from AEON counter, don't forget to go during AEON member day to get back RM10 every RM100 you spend. If you're buying from Parkson, go on the last Friday of the month which is Bonuslink member day, 5x points, RM10 off per RM150 spent and at Seberang Jaya branch extra RM10 per RM100 spent at cosmetic counter.

I'm on my third bottle, and I'll probably run out of it in July. Yep, plan to repurchase. Hopefully I'll get RM50 parkson birthday voucher this year so I can save some money on this :)

Review: MKO Beauty

Location: Near Aeon Alma, BM.
Timing: Jan2015

Basically an extension of Meiko brand sold in supermarket.
It's quite a nice place.
And close to Kulim.

Back massage is awkward, cos you need to reveal your boobs to the masseuse.
Facial was so - so.
I like it because it even pull out the 'biji' (aka oil seed).
(I was charged RM30 @ JA Beauty Center for this service.)
But the white head extraction was a bit... lazy.
It took shorter time comparing to other places.
Either she's not doing it well, or my whitehead is reducing.

In short, not a bad choice; except their rate is quite steep @ RM70/session x 10 times package.
Will revisit if the price drops to ~RM30.

Review: Beauty Language Beauty Gallery

Location: Raja Uda, Seberang Jaya
Time: Nov14 and Dec14

I went 2x to this 'spa'.
Basically one-woman-show of a small lot.
The facial is not too bad.

But the back massage is horrendous.
It almost broke my back.
My slipped disc possibly was contributed by this.

Kept saying my face had plenty of dead cell skin.
The makcik was an awkward person. (read: too friendly at the wrong place.)
Possibly won't revisit.
